⏱️ Duración total: ~3 h 15 min — Clase 60 min · Ejercicios 60 min · Reto 60 min · Quiz ~15 min.
- Usar estructuras enfáticas: do/does/did enfático, what/it clefts, inversión negativa.
- Saber cuándo reforzar (persuasión) y cuándo atenuar (cautela).
- Sonar contundente y preciso, no exagerado, en discurso y escritura C1.
📖 Clase (60 min)
1. Escala de adverbios de grado.
- Atenuadores: slightly, a little, somewhat, fairly, rather, quite.
- Reforzadores estándar: very, really, extremely, highly, particularly.
- Reforzadores fuertes: incredibly, remarkably, exceptionally, profoundly, vastly.
- Para adjetivos absolutos (no graduables: perfect, impossible, essential, unique) NO uses very; usa absolutely, utterly, completely, totally: absolutely essential, utterly impossible (✗ very essential).
2. Colocación de intensificadores. Algunos solo combinan bien con ciertos adjetivos: highly likely/recommended/unlikely, bitterly disappointed, deeply concerned, strongly opposed, fully aware, widely regarded. Son colocaciones; memorízalas en bloque.
3. Do/does/did enfático. Para afirmar con fuerza o contrastar:
- I do understand your point. (sí que entiendo)
- She does care about it.
- We did warn you. (sí que avisamos)
- En imperativo: Do sit down. (cortés/enfático)
4. Oraciones hendidas (cleft sentences).
- It-cleft: It was John who broke it. (fue John quien…)
- What-cleft: What I need is more time. (lo que necesito es…)
- The reason… is that…: The reason it failed is that we rushed.
- All-cleft: All I want is the truth.
- Never have I seen such a mess. (Nunca he visto…)
- Not only did he lie, but he also denied it.
- Rarely do we get such a chance.
- Under no circumstances should you sign it.
6. Otros recursos. Repetición controlada (a long, long time), the very
- sustantivo (the very idea), so/such (so important / such a problem), indeed tras adjetivo (very good indeed).

Gramática a fondo
| Recurso | Neutro | Enfático |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmación | I like it. | I do like it. |
| Sujeto destacado | John broke it. | It was John who broke it. |
| Objeto/idea destacada | I want respect. | What I want is respect. |
| Negación frontal | I have never seen this. | Never have I seen this. |
| Doble énfasis | He lied and denied it. | Not only did he lie, but he also denied it. |
Si no hay auxiliar, se introduce do/does/did: Rarely does she complain. (no Rarely she complains).
Pronunciación y notas de uso
- En do/does/did enfático, el auxiliar lleva acento fuerte: I DÚ like it.
- No mezcles intensificador débil + adjetivo absoluto: quite perfect suena raro; di absolutely perfect o almost perfect.
Errores comunes del hispanohablante
- ✗ very essential / very perfect → ✓ absolutely essential / absolutely perfect.
- ✗ very very important → ✓ extremely important / vitally important.
- ✗ I do can do it. (modal no admite do) → ✓ I can do it. (acento) / I really can do it.
- ✗ Never I have seen… → ✓ Never have I seen…
- ✗ What I need is to have more time (a veces calco pesado) → ✓ What I need is more time.
- ✗ highly + sustantivo → highly va con adjetivo/participio: ✓ highly recommended, no highly recommendation.
- ✗ Not only he lied… → ✓ Not only did he lie…
Mini-diálogo de ejemplo
Critic: I don't think you really tried. (No creo que lo intentaras de verdad.) You: I did try — harder than anyone, in fact. Critic: Then why did it fail? (¿Entonces por qué fracasó?) You: What went wrong was the timing, not the effort. Critic: Fair point. (Punto válido.) You: Never have I worked so hard on a project. Under no circumstances will I give up now. (Nunca he trabajado tanto en un proyecto. Bajo ningún concepto me rendiré ahora.)
