Día 337 · Registro formal vs. informal: el mismo mensaje, distinta ropa
⏱️ Duración total: ~3 h 15 min — Clase 60 min · Ejercicios 60 min · Reto 60 min · Quiz ~15 min.
- ask for (informal) → request (formal). Can I ask for help? / I would like to request assistance.
- get → receive/obtain. I got your email. / I received your email.
- buy → purchase. I bought it. / The item was purchased.
- need → require. We need more time. / Additional time is required.
- help → assist. Can you help me? / Could you assist me?
- show → demonstrate/indicate. The results show… / The results demonstrate…
- put off → postpone. They put off the meeting. / The meeting was postponed.
- find out → discover/ascertain. I found out the truth. / We ascertained the facts.
- look into → investigate. I'll look into it. / We will investigate the matter.
- go up/down → increase/decrease. Prices went up. / Prices increased.
- deal with → address/handle. I'll deal with it. / We will address the issue.
3. Contracciones. I'm, don't, it's, won't son normales al hablar e informales por escrito. En texto formal se escriben completas: I am, do not, it is, will not.
4. Gramática. Lo formal evita preguntas directas y prefiere estructuras indirectas y pasivas:
- Informal: Can you send it? → Formal: I would be grateful if you could send it.
- Informal: We made a mistake. → Formal: An error has been made.
- Informal: Who do you want to speak to? → Formal: To whom would you like to speak?
5. Tono y cortesía. Lo formal añade would, could, might, perhaps, I wonder if; lo informal va directo: Give me a hand vs. I wonder if you might be able to help.

- ✗ I want to request you to help me. → ✓ I would like to request your assistance.
- ✗ Mezclar registros: Dear Sir, hey, can u send the docs asap, thx → ✓ registro uniforme y completo.
- ✗ Sorry for the inconveniences → ✓ I apologise for any inconvenience (incontable en singular en esta colocación).
- ✗ Traducir te agradecería como I would thank you → ✓ I would be grateful if….
- ✗ I'm writing for to ask… → ✓ I am writing to ask / to enquire about….
