📖 Clase (60 min)
Introducción y contexto
Tras la Semana 47 (idioms cotidianos, tiempo, dinero; collocations), abrimos una nueva familia: las emociones. Decir siempre I'm very happy o I'm angry es correcto pero pobre para un C1. Los nativos describen estados de ánimo con imágenes vívidas: on cloud nine, down in the dumps, to lose one's temper. Hoy aprendes a expresar el espectro emocional como ellos.
Explicación detallada (regla por regla)
1. Alegría/felicidad.
- "on cloud nine" → en una nube, feliz. She's been on cloud nine since the news.
- "over the moon" → loco de contento. I was over the moon about the job.
- "on top of the world" → en la cima del mundo. He felt on top of the world.
- "to be thrilled to bits" → encantado, muy ilusionado. I'm thrilled to bits.
2. Tristeza/desánimo.
- "down in the dumps" → deprimido, de bajón. He's been down in the dumps lately.
- "to feel blue" → estar triste. I feel a bit blue today.
- "to be at a low ebb" → en horas bajas. Her spirits were at a low ebb.
3. Enfado.
- "to lose one's temper" → perder los estribos. He lost his temper at the meeting.
- "to be fed up (with)" → estar harto de. I'm fed up with the noise.
- "to drive someone up the wall" → sacar de quicio. That sound drives me up the wall.
- "to fly off the handle" → estallar de ira. Don't fly off the handle.
4. Miedo/estrés/alivio.
- "to be scared stiff" → muerto de miedo. I was scared stiff during the flight.
- "to have butterflies in one's stomach" → tener mariposas/nervios. I had butterflies before the exam.
- "to be a bundle of nerves" → ser un manojo de nervios. She's a bundle of nerves.
- "a weight off one's shoulders" → un peso menos. Finishing was a weight off my shoulders.
