Día 281 · Repaso de los condicionales (0, 1, 2 y 3)
⏱️ Duración total: ~3 h 15 min — Clase 60 min · Ejercicios 60 min · Reto 60 min · Quiz ~15 min.
- Manejarás variantes formales: unless, provided that, as long as, in case, even if.
- Corregirás los errores típicos del hispanohablante con if + would y la traducción literal del condicional español.
- Prepararás el terreno para los condicionales mixtos y wish / if only del resto de la semana.
📖 Clase (60 min)
Regla 1 — Condicional cero (verdades generales). If + presente simple, presente simple. If equivale a when.
- If you heat water to 100°C, it boils. — Si calientas agua a 100°C, hierve.
- If I don't sleep well, I feel terrible. — Si no duermo bien, me siento fatal.
Regla 2 — Primer condicional (futuro real y probable). If + presente simple, will + infinitivo.
- If it rains tomorrow, we will stay home. — Si llueve mañana, nos quedaremos en casa.
- If you study, you will pass. — Si estudias, aprobarás.
- Variantes del resultado: may/might/can/should/must/imperativo: If you finish early, you can leave.
Regla 3 — Segundo condicional (presente/futuro hipotético o improbable). If + pasado simple, would + infinitivo.
- If I had more time, I would learn the piano. — Si tuviera más tiempo, aprendería piano.
- If I were you, I wouldn't do that.
- Resultado también con could / might: If we left now, we could catch the train.
If + had + participio, would have + participio.
- If I had studied, I would have passed. — Si hubiera estudiado, habría aprobado (pero no estudié).
- If they had left earlier, they wouldn't have missed the flight. — Si hubieran salido antes, no habrían perdido el vuelo.
Regla 5 — Conectores condicionales.
- unless = if not (a menos que): I won't go unless you come. = ...if you don't come.
- provided (that) / as long as = siempre que: You can borrow it as long as you return it.
- in case = por si acaso (≠ if; acción preventiva): Take an umbrella in case it rains.
- even if = aunque / incluso si: I'll go even if it rains.
Regla 6 — Inversión formal (sin if).
- Were I you, I'd accept. (= If I were you...)
- Had I known, I would have called. (= If I had known...)
- Should you need help, call me. (= If you should need help...)

Gramática a fondo
| Tipo | Cláusula if | Cláusula resultado | Significado |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | presente simple | presente simple | verdad general / ley |
| 1 | presente simple | will + inf. | futuro real, probable |
| 2 | pasado simple | would + inf. | presente/futuro hipotético |
| 3 | had + participio | would have + part. | pasado imposible |
Notas clave:
Si va delante, lleva coma: If it rains, I'll stay. / I'll stay if it rains. (sin coma).
- would, could, might van solo en la cláusula de resultado, nunca tras if (salvo would de cortesía: If you would wait here, please).
- was/were: en 2.º condicional se acepta If I was... en lenguaje informal, pero were es la forma correcta y obligatoria en If I were you.
Pronunciación y notas de uso
- Formas contraídas del resultado: I'd = I would / I had (el contexto desambigua), he'd've (coloquial) = he would have.
- would have en habla rápida suena /wʊdəv/ → "would've", nunca would of (error ortográfico común incluso entre nativos).
- En 3.er condicional, had es auxiliar átono: If I'd known /aɪd nəʊn/.
Errores comunes del hispanohablante
- ✗ If I would have time, I would travel. → ✓ If I had time, I would travel. (nunca would tras if)
- ✗ If I will see him, I will tell him. → ✓ If I see him, I will tell him.
- ✗ If I would have studied... → ✓ If I had studied...
- ✗ If I would be you... → ✓ If I were you...
- ✗ Unless you don't help me... (doble negación) → ✓ Unless you help me...
- ✗ would of done → ✓ would have done.
- ✗ Traducir "en caso de que" como in case that → ✓ in case (+ frase, sin that obligatorio).
Mini-diálogo de ejemplo
A: If you had the chance, would you live abroad? B: Definitely. If I spoke the language better, I would move tomorrow. (Sin duda. Si hablara mejor el idioma, me mudaría mañana.) A: Well, you can't unless you practise every day. B: True. And if I had started earlier, I would be fluent by now. (Cierto. Y si hubiera empezado antes, ya sería fluido.) A: That's a mixed conditional — we'll study that this week!

- If + pasado simple, would + infinitivo (presente/futuro hipotético). 2. If I had time, I would call you. 3. "A menos que" (= if not). 4. if = condición que provoca el resultado; in case = acción preventiva, "por si acaso", antes de que pase. 5. had left. 6. Had I known, I would have told you. 7. Es aceptable en lenguaje informal, pero se prefiere If I were you. 8. Es ortográfico/gramatical: debe ser would have ('ve), no of. 9. I'll support you as long as / provided that you're honest. 10. El tercer condicional.
