Introducción y contexto

Hoy es el día más práctico de la semana: dar y pedir indicaciones. Combinas lo de los Días 148–149 (lugar + movimiento) en frases reales que usarás en cualquier ciudad de habla inglesa. Aprenderás a preguntar sin sonar brusco, a entender la respuesta y a guiar tú mismo a alguien con instrucciones claras y ordenadas.

Explicación detallada

1. Pedir indicaciones (educadamente).

Empieza siempre con una fórmula de cortesía:

• Excuse me, how do I get to the station? (Disculpe, ¿cómo llego a la estación?)
• Excuse me, where's the nearest pharmacy? (¿Dónde está la farmacia más cercana?)
• Could you tell me the way to the museum, please? (¿Podría decirme cómo ir al museo?)
• Is there a bank near here? (¿Hay un banco cerca?)
• Is it far? / How far is it? (¿Está lejos? / ¿A qué distancia está?)

2. Dar indicaciones (imperativos).

Las indicaciones se dan con el imperativo (verbo base, sin sujeto):

• Go straight on / Go straight ahead. (Sigue/siga recto.)
• Turn left / Turn right. (Gira a la izquierda / derecha.)
• Take the first/second left. (Toma la primera/segunda a la izquierda.)
• Go past the bank. (Pasa por delante del banco.)
• Cross the road / the square. (Cruza la carretera / la plaza.)
• Go along this street. (Sigue por esta calle.)
• It's on your left/right. (Está a tu izquierda/derecha.)
• It's at the end of the street. (Está al final de la calle.)
• You can't miss it. (No tiene pérdida.)

3. Secuenciadores (ordenar los pasos).

• First, … (Primero,)
• Then / After that, … (Luego / Después,)
• Next, … (A continuación,)
• Finally, … (Finalmente,)
• When you get to the corner, … (Cuando llegues a la esquina,)

4. Distancias y referencias.

• It's about 5 minutes' walk. (Está a unos 5 minutos andando.)
• It's just around the corner. (Está justo a la vuelta de la esquina.)
• It's two blocks from here. (Está a dos manzanas de aquí.)
• It's next to the church. (Está al lado de la iglesia.)
• near / far / opposite / between (repaso del Día 148).

5. Si no sabes o no entiendes.

• Sorry, I'm not from here. (Lo siento, no soy de aquí.)
• Could you repeat that, please? (¿Podría repetirlo, por favor?)
• Could you speak more slowly, please? (¿Podría hablar más despacio?)

Vocabulario clave

Gramática a fondo

Imperativo: verbo base. Negativo: Don't + verbo (Don't turn left here.).

Estructura encadenada típica: Go along this street, then turn right at the traffic lights, go past the bank, and it's on your left. You can't miss it.

Pronunciación y notas de uso

• straight /stréit/ — gh muda.
• ahead /ajéd/ — la h se aspira ligeramente; "a-jed".
• junction /chánkshon/ — empieza con sonido "ch".
• roundabout /ráundabaut/ — 3 sílabas marcadas.
• How do I get to… se dice rápido y unido: "haw-du-ai-get-tu".

1. (15 min) Elige un destino real cerca de un punto conocido.
2. (20 min) Escribe el diálogo: un turista pide indicaciones (cortesía, "how do I get to…", "is it far?") y tú das la ruta con ≥5 imperativos, secuenciadores y una referencia ("it's opposite the…").
3. (15 min) Practica los dos papeles en voz alta.
4. (10 min) Grábate haciendo ambos papeles.
