Introducción y contexto

Empezamos la semana de direcciones y lugares. La base de todo es saber colocar cosas en el espacio: ¿la tienda está en la calle, en la esquina, al lado del banco? El español usa "en" para casi todo; el inglés distingue in / on / at y tiene un repertorio rico de preposiciones de posición. Dominar esto hoy te permitirá, en los próximos días, dar y seguir indicaciones, leer mapas y describir tu barrio.

Explicación detallada

1. IN, ON, AT con lugares.

• IN → dentro de un espacio cerrado o un área grande: in the room, in the shop, in London, in the city, in the park.
• ON → sobre una superficie o una línea (calle, planta): on the table, on the wall, on Main Street, on the second floor, on the corner.
• AT → un punto específico o una dirección concreta: at the bus stop, at the door, at the corner, at 25 Oxford Street, at home, at the station.

Comparación útil:

• I live in London. (ciudad → in)
• I live on Green Street. (calle → on)
• I live at 12 Green Street. (número exacto → at)

2. Preposiciones de posición.

3. Cuidado con "opposite" vs "in front of".

• opposite = enfrente, al otro lado (cara a cara con algo): The bank is opposite the church. (separados por la calle)
• in front of = delante, en la parte frontal del mismo lado: I'm waiting in front of the cinema. (en su entrada)

4. Frases para preguntar y responder dónde está algo.

• Where is the bank? — It's next to the supermarket.
• Is there a pharmacy near here? — Yes, there's one on the corner.
• Where's the nearest ATM? — It's opposite the station.
