📖 Clase (60 min)

Introducción y contexto

Ya tienes los verbos para narrar un viaje (went, took, flew, drove). Hoy añadimos el vocabulario que da precisión: ¿fuiste by plane o by train? ¿Facturaste luggage? ¿Tu billete era one-way o return? Sin estas palabras, tu relato de viaje queda vago. Con ellas, suena natural y completo.

Un punto gramatical pequeño pero importantísimo acompaña este tema: las preposiciones de transporte. En español decimos "en coche, en avión, en tren" con la misma palabra. En inglés depende: by + medio en general, pero on el autobús/tren/avión y in el coche/taxi. Hoy lo dejamos claro.

Explicación detallada (regla por regla)

1. Medios de transporte y la preposición by. Para decir cómo viajas en general: by + medio (sin artículo):

• by car, by bus, by train, by plane, by bike, by taxi, by boat (en coche, en bus, en tren, en avión, en bici, en taxi, en barco).
• I went there by train. (Fui en tren.)
• Excepción: on foot (a pie), no by foot. I went on foot. (Fui andando.)

2. on / in cuando estás dentro. Para decir que estás/subes a un vehículo concreto:

• on transporte público o grande (bus, train, plane, ship, bike): I was on the bus. (Estaba en el autobús.)
• in vehículo pequeño/cerrado (car, taxi): She was in the car. (Estaba en el coche.)
• Verbos: get on / get off el bus/tren; get in / get out of el coche/taxi.

3. En el aeropuerto / la estación. Vocabulario de proceso: check in (facturar), boarding pass (tarjeta de embarque), gate (puerta de embarque), departure / arrival (salida / llegada), delay (retraso), platform (andén).

4. Tipos de billete y viaje: one-way ticket (billete de ida), return ticket (ida y vuelta), single / double room, business trip (viaje de negocios), trip vs. travel vs. journey (ver notas de uso).

Vocabulario clave

Gramática a fondo: by / on / in / on foot

trip / travel / journey: trip = viaje completo (ida y vuelta, ocio o negocios) → a business trip. travel = viajar en general (verbo o sustantivo incontable) → I love travel(ling). journey = el trayecto en sí → a long journey.

Pronunciación y notas de uso

• luggage es incontable: much luggage, no luggages.
• journey suena /yérni/ (la j como /ʤ/).
• airport lleva acento en la 1ª sílaba: ÉER-port.
• No digas I take the airplane; lo natural: I take a flight / I fly.

Errores comunes del hispanohablante

• ✗ I went there by foot. → ✓ I went there on foot.
• ✗ I have two luggages. → ✓ I have two bags / pieces of luggage.
• ✗ We were in the bus. → ✓ We were on the bus.
• ✗ I made a travel to Spain. → ✓ I went on a trip to Spain.
• ✗ She got off the car. → ✓ She got out of the car.
• ✗ a ticket of return. → ✓ a return ticket.

Tarea: role-play "At the station/airport".

1. (15 min) Escribe un diálogo de 12–16 líneas entre un viajero y un empleado: comprar billete, facturar equipaje, preguntar por el andén/puerta, mencionar un retraso.
2. (20 min) Incluye ≥10 palabras del vocabulario y 4 verbos irregulares en pasado (cuando el viajero cuenta algo).
3. (15 min) Practica los dos papeles en voz alta.
4. (10 min) Grábate haciendo ambos papeles.
