⏱️ Duración total: ~3 h 15 min — Clase 60 min · Ejercicios 60 min · Reto 60 min · Quiz ~15 min.
- Pronunciar correctamente verbos trampa: thought, caught, said, read, wrote.
- Distinguir presente y pasado al oído (read /rid/ vs /red/, lead/led).
- Aplicar técnicas de memorización (chunks, historias, repetición espaciada).
📖 Clase (60 min)
Introducción y contexto
Hasta ahora has visto unos 40 verbos irregulares.
Patrón 1 — "‑ought / ‑aught" /ɔːt/ ("ot"): think→thought, buy→bought, bring→brought, fight→fought, catch→caught, teach→taught. Todos suenan "...ot".
Patrón 2 — vocal cambia a /æ/ ("a") en pasado: sing→sang, ring→rang, drink→drank, swim→swam, begin→began, run→ran, sit→sat.
Patrón 3 — terminación en /əʊ/ ("ou"): know→knew…
Patrón 5 — terminación en /t/ o /d/ (parecido a regular): feel→felt, keep→kept, sleep→slept, leave→left, mean→meant, build→built, send→sent, spend→spent, lose→lost, pay→paid, say→said, hear→heard.
Patrón 6 — totalmente distinto (memorizar a pelo): go→went, be→was/were, have→had.
Agrupar así reduce 40 verbos a 6 ideas. Memoriza por familias, no por orden alfabético.

Gramática a fondo: tabla de familias
| Patrón | Cómo suena el pasado | Ejemplos |
|---|---|---|
| ‑ought/‑aught | "ot" /ɔːt/ | thought, bought, caught, taught |
| vocal → a | "a" /æ/ | sang, drank, swam, ran |
| → /əʊ/ | "ou" | drove, wrote, spoke, broke, woke |
| sin cambio | igual escrito | put, cut, cost, hit, read* |
| termina /t/-/d/ | "...t/...d" | felt, slept, left, said, paid |
| irregular total | distinto | went, was/were, had |
- Trucos de memoria: crea una mini-historia: "I caught the ball, taught the class, bought bread and thought about you" — todas riman, fácil de recordar.
Errores comunes del hispanohablante
- ✗ Pronunciar thought como "zout" → ✓ /zot/.
- ✗ said como "séid" → ✓ /sed/.
- ✗ read (pasado) como "rid" → ✓ /red/.
- ✗ swimmed, runned, singed → ✓ swam, ran, sang.
- ✗ I putted it there → ✓ I put it there (sin cambio).
- ✗ heard como "jeard"/"jird" → ✓ /jerd/.
Mini-diálogo de ejemplo
A: I read that book last month. (Leí ese libro el mes pasado — /red/.) B: Really? I thought you didn't like fiction. (¿En serio? Pensé que no te gustaba la ficción.) A: I bought it by accident, but I felt hooked! (Lo compré por error, ¡pero me enganché!) B: I heard the film is good too. (Oí que la peli también es buena.) A: They broke the box-office record! (¡Batieron el récord de taquilla!) B: We swam in spoilers online, ha! (Nadamos entre spoilers en internet, ¡ja!)
