Día 353 · Listening C1: comprensión auditiva avanzada y toma de notas
⏱️ Duración total: ~3 h 15 min — Clase 60 min · Ejercicios 60 min · Reto 60 min · Quiz ~15 min.
1. Cuatro tipos de comprensión auditiva.
- Listening for gist: ¿de qué trata en general? No te ancles en una palabra.
- Listening for detail: datos concretos (fechas, cifras, nombres).
2. Antes de escuchar (predicción). Lee las preguntas/encabezados. Predice vocabulario probable. Tu cerebro encuentra lo que espera encontrar.
- Linking: an apple suena "a-napple"; turn off suena "tur-noff".
- Weak forms: can, to, of, and, for se reducen a /kən/, /tə/, /əv/, /ən/, /fə/. "I can go" ≈ "I cn go"; "fish and chips" ≈ "fish n chips".
- Elision: caída de sonidos. next day → "nex day"; I don't know → "I dunno".
- Assimilation: did you → "didja"; want to → "wanna"; going to → "gonna".
4. Discourse markers (señales para no perderte). Te avisan de la estructura:
- Añadir: moreover, on top of that, what's more.
- Contraste: however, on the other hand, having said that.
- Ejemplo: for instance, take… for example.
- Conclusión/resumen: so, all in all, to wrap up, the bottom line is.
- Cambio de tema: anyway, moving on, as for….
Cuando oigas "however" o "the bottom line is", presta máxima atención: viene información clave.
5. Note-taking (Cornell/símbolos). No escribas frases enteras. Usa:
- Abreviaturas: info, gov't, b/c (because), w/ (with), e.g., →, ↑↓, =, ≠, +.

Gramática a fondo
|---|---|
| "Well, in theory it works…" | escepticismo / "pero en la práctica no" |
| "Oh, that's just great." (tono plano) | ironía / fastidio |
| "I'm not entirely convinced that…" | desacuerdo cortés |
| "To be fair, …" | concesión antes de discrepar |
| "Frankly, …" | opinión sincera, posiblemente negativa |
| "Apparently / Supposedly …" | duda sobre la veracidad |
Estructuras de cortesía/hedging que suavizan opiniones (clave para inferir): "It might be worth considering…", "I'd argue that…", "sort of / kind of".
Pronunciación y notas de uso
- Practica reconocer weak forms: escucha y repite "a cup of tea" (/ə kʌp əv tiː/), "fish and chips" (/fɪʃ ən tʃɪps/).
- Filler words (um, like, you know, sort of) no son errores: ignóralas para el contenido, pero indican duda.
Errores comunes del hispanohablante
- ✗ Esperar pronunciación "letra a letra": no reconocer "didja" (= did you).
- ✗ I lost the word. → ✓ I missed that word / I didn't catch that.
- ✗ Can you repeat? (brusco) → ✓ Could you say that again, please? / Sorry, I didn't catch that.
- ✗ Confundir can /kæn/ y can't /kɑːnt-kænt/: en habla rápida, can es débil /kən/ y can't es fuerte y corta la vocal. Escucha el acento, no solo la "t".
- ✗ Traducir mentalmente todo (te quedas atrás). ✓ Escucha en bloques de significado.
Mini-diálogo de ejemplo
Coach: I'll play a 20-second clip. Just get the gist first. (Pondré un clip de 20 s. Capta solo la idea general primero.) Learner: Okay… It was about a city banning cars in the centre, right? Coach: Exactly. Now, what was the speaker's attitude? (Exacto. Ahora, ¿cuál era la actitud del hablante?) Learner: Sceptical — he said "in theory it sounds good, but…". (Escéptico: dijo "en teoría suena bien, pero…".) Coach: Great inference. That "but" was the key signal. (Gran inferencia. Ese "pero" era la señal clave.)
✍️ Ejercicios (60 min)

- "didja" → 6. "lemme" → 7. "kinda" → 8. "cuppa" →
Bloque 2 · Identifica el tipo de escucha (6 min)
Gist / Detail / Inference / Attitude:
- "What time does the train leave?" → ___
- "What is the talk mainly about?" → ___
- "How does the speaker feel about the plan?" → ___
- "What can we deduce that the woman will probably do?" → ___
Bloque 3 · Discourse markers (8 min)
Clasifica: contraste / ejemplo / conclusión / cambio de tema:
- "Anyway, moving on…" 2. "All in all…" 3. "However…"
- "For instance…" 5. "The bottom line is…" 6. "As for the budget…"
Bloque 4 · Infiere la actitud (8 min)
¿A favor, en contra, escéptico, irónico?
- "Oh, fantastic. Another meeting." (tono plano)
- "I'm not entirely convinced this will work."
- "Honestly, it's the best idea I've heard all year."
- "Apparently it's perfectly safe."
Bloque 5 · Abrevia para tomar notas (10 min)
Convierte a notas con símbolos/abreviaturas:
- "The government increased spending because unemployment rose."
