Introducción y contexto

Ayer trabajamos el mixto A (pasado → presente). Hoy le damos la vuelta: el mixto B, donde una realidad presente, permanente o general explica algo que (no) pasó en el pasado.

La lógica es esta: hay rasgos tuyos que no cambian con el tiempo —tu carácter, tus habilidades, quién eres— y esos rasgos estables tienen efectos también en el pasado. If I were more organised (siempre, ahora y siempre), I wouldn't have missed the deadline (entonces). No digo que en el pasado fuera desorganizado puntualmente, sino que soy desorganizado como rasgo, y por eso ocurrió aquello. Es la estructura para el autoanálisis fino: explicar errores pasados por defectos presentes, o éxitos pasados por virtudes que tienes. Para el hispanohablante el reto no es el concepto ("Si yo fuera más organizado, no habría perdido el plazo"), sino no caer en igualar los tiempos ni meter would tras if. Hoy lo automatizamos y luego practicamos alternar A y B.

Explicación detallada (regla por regla)

Regla 1 — La fórmula del mixto tipo B.

If + pasado simple (presente/general), would have + participio (pasado).

La cláusula if es como un 2.º condicional (estado presente irreal o permanente); el resultado es como un 3.er condicional (consecuencia pasada).

Regla 2 — Cuándo usarlo: rasgo estable → hecho pasado. Se usa cuando la condición es algo siempre cierto sobre alguien o algo: personalidad, habilidad permanente, gusto, situación duradera.

Regla 3 — Marcadores temporales que delatan el mixto B. El resultado lleva referencias pasadas: yesterday, last week, in 2010, then, that day, ago. La condición es atemporal/general (sin marcador, o con always, generally).

Regla 4 — were para todas las personas. Como es un 2.º condicional en la condición, en lenguaje cuidado se usa were con I/he/she/it: If he were more patient, he wouldn't have shouted.

Regla 5 — Resultado con could have / might have. Para matizar:
