Eso suena maduro y persuasivo: "Although it's expensive, it's worth it", "It's risky; however, the benefits are huge".

Regla 1 — but (el básico, informal).

Regla 2 — however (formal, conector entre frases).

However it's expensive, ... (mal usado como although) → ✓ usa Although o pon however tras punto.

Regla 3 — although / even though / though (concesión, + frase). Introducen la idea "contraria" en una subordinada:

Regla clave: con although/even though NO se usa but en la otra parte:

Regla 4 — despite / in spite of (concesión, + sustantivo o -ing).

despite of (NUNCA) → ✓ despite (sin of) o in spite of (con of).

Regla 5 — whereas / while (contraste de dos cosas). Comparan dos sujetos/ideas:

Regla 6 — on the other hand (presentar el otro lado).
