📖 Clase (60 min)
Además aparece la palabra than (no that) para comparar y la construcción would rather (sin to).
Regla 1 — PREFER (preferencia general).
- prefer + -ing / prefer + to + verbo (ambas válidas, sentido general):
- I prefer reading to watching TV. → Prefiero leer a ver la tele.
- I prefer to read in the evening. → Prefiero leer por la tarde.
- Comparar dos cosas: prefer X to Y (¡con to, no than!):
- She prefers tea to coffee. → Prefiere el té al café.
- I prefer walking to driving. → Prefiero caminar a conducir.
Regla 2 — WOULD PREFER (preferencia en una situación concreta).
- would prefer + to + verbo (siempre infinitivo):
- I 'd prefer to stay home tonight. → Preferiría quedarme en casa esta noche.
- Would you prefer to meet at six? → ¿Preferirías quedar a las seis?
Regla 3 — WOULD RATHER (preferiría — muy frecuente).
- would rather + verbo SIN to (¡infinitivo desnudo!):
- I 'd rather stay home. → Preferiría quedarme en casa.
- Would you rather walk or take a taxi? → ¿Preferirías caminar o tomar un taxi?
- Comparar: would rather X than Y (¡con than!):
- I 'd rather read than watch TV. → Prefiero leer (antes) que ver la tele.
- Negativo: I 'd rather not go. → Preferiría no ir.
Regla 4 — DECISIONES Y DESEOS.
- decide + to + verbo: I decided to change jobs. → Decidí cambiar de trabajo.
- choose + to + verbo: He chose to study abroad. → Eligió estudiar fuera.
- make a decision / make up my mind: I made up my mind. → Me decidí.
- feel like + -ing (= apetecer): I feel like going out. → Me apetece salir.
- look forward to + -ing (= esperar con ilusión): I look forward to starting. → Tengo ganas de empezar.
- be keen on + -ing (= tener ganas/interés): She's keen on learning to code. → Le interesa aprender a programar.

|---|---|---|
| prefer X to Y | to | gerundio o sustantivo |

Cualquiera vale.
