📖 Clase (60 min)

Introducción y contexto

Hasta ahora has comparado diciendo que algo es más o menos que otra cosa. Pero a veces quieres decir que dos cosas son iguales ("tan caro como", "tan alto como mi hermano") o no tan una como la otra. Para eso el inglés usa una estructura preciosa y muy frecuente: as ... as. Es tan común en conversación como el comparativo con -er, y muchos hispanohablantes la evitan por inseguridad. Hoy la vas a dominar, junto con the same as y different from, para que puedas comparar con total precisión.

Explicación detallada (regla por regla)

1. as + adjetivo + as = "tan ... como" (igualdad).

• He is as tall as his brother. (Es tan alto como su hermano.)
• This phone is as expensive as that one. (Este móvil es tan caro como aquel.)
• Today is as hot as yesterday. (Hoy hace tanto calor como ayer.)
• El adjetivo va en su forma base (sin -er, sin more): as big as, NO as bigger as.

2. not as + adjetivo + as = "no tan ... como" (desigualdad suave).

• This phone is not as expensive as that one. (No es tan caro como aquel = es más barato.)
• I am not as tall as my brother. (No soy tan alto como mi hermano.)
• not as ... as = una forma muy natural de decir less ... than.

3. the same as = "igual que / lo mismo que".

• My phone is the same as yours. (Mi móvil es igual que el tuyo.)
• Her answer was the same as mine.
• Con sustantivo: the same + sustantivo + as → the same age as, the same price as.

4. different from = "diferente de / distinto a".

• This city is different from mine. (Esta ciudad es diferente de la mía.)
• En inglés británico también se oye different to; en americano, different than. Para A2, usa different from.

• Los dos as son átonos y rápidos: as tall as suena "as tól as" muy ligero; el adjetivo lleva el acento.
