📖 Clase (60 min)

Introducción y contexto

Ayer aprendiste a afirmar en pasado con was/were. El verbo to be se niega solo, igual que en presente (I'm not, she isn't).

Explicación detallada (regla por regla)

1. La regla básica: was/were + not.

Sujeto + was/were + not + (complemento)

2. Contracciones (lo natural al hablar).

Forma larga Contracción Ejemplo
was not wasn't He wasn't there. (No estaba ahí.)
were not weren't We weren't ready. (No estábamos listos.)

La forma larga (was not) suena más enfática o formal.

3. Tabla completa de la negación:

Pronombre Negativo largo Contracción
I I was not I wasn't
You You were not You weren't
He/She/It He was not He wasn't
We We were not We weren't
They They were not They weren't

4. Negar la existencia: there wasn't / there weren't = "no había".

Fíjate en any: en frases negativas usamos any, no some. ✗ There wasn't some milk. → ✓ There wasn't any milk.

5. Uso típico: corregir o contrastar.
