Al terminar podrás:

• Decir cualquier hora con el sistema clásico (o'clock, past, to, quarter, half).
• Usar también el sistema de dígitos (nine fifteen).
• Diferenciar a.m. / p.m. y in the morning/afternoon/evening.
• Preguntar la hora correctamente.
• Evitar los errores típicos del hispanohablante con la hora.

📖 Clase (60 min)

Introducción y contexto

Decir la hora parece básico, pero el sistema inglés es diferente del español. En español decimos "las tres y cuarto", "las cinco menos diez". En inglés se usa past (pasada) y to (para/hacia), y el orden de las palabras cambia. Además, conviven dos sistemas: el "clásico" (quarter past three) y el "digital" (three fifteen). Dominar esto es esencial para horarios, citas y la rutina, tema de esta semana.

Explicación detallada (regla por regla)

Regla 1 — En punto: o'clock. Solo para horas exactas:

• It's three o'clock. — Son las tres en punto. (NO ❌ three o'clock and ten)

Regla 2 — Minutos 1–30: past (pasada). Estructura: minutos + past + hora.

• It's ten past four. — Son las cuatro y diez.
• It's twenty past seven. — Son las siete y veinte.

Regla 3 — Minutos 31–59: to (para la siguiente hora). Estructura: minutos que faltan + to + hora SIGUIENTE.

• It's ten to five. — Son las cinco menos diez (faltan 10 para las 5).
• It's twenty to nine. — Son las nueve menos veinte.

Regla 4 — Cuarto y media:

• quarter past = y cuarto → It's quarter past six. (6:15)
• half past = y media → It's half past six. (6:30)
• quarter to = menos cuarto → It's quarter to seven. (6:45)

Regla 5 — Sistema digital (cada vez más común). Se dicen los números tal cual: hora + minutos.

• 7:15 → seven fifteen
• 9:30 → nine thirty
• 10:45 → ten forty-five
• 8:05 → eight oh five ("oh" = cero)

Regla 6 — Preguntar la hora:

• What time is it? / What's the time? — ¿Qué hora es?
• Respuesta: It's… (siempre con It's).

Regla 7 — a.m. / p.m. y partes del día:

• a.m. = madrugada/mañana (00:00–11:59); p.m. = tarde/noche (12:00–23:59).
• in the morning (mañana), in the afternoon (tarde), in the evening (noche), at night (de noche).
• It's 7 o'clock in the morning.
