📖 Clase (60 min)
Introducción y contexto
El Día 7 nunca trae materia nueva: fija lo aprendido. La retención depende de recuperar la información de forma activa varios días después (spaced retrieval). Hoy repasas los cinco días en formato condensado y auto-test. Si algo no te sale ágil, vuelve al día correspondiente.
Síntesis Día 337 — Formal vs. informal
- Léxico: germánico/corto = informal; latino/largo = formal (get/obtain, buy/purchase, help/assist, need/require).
- Phrasal verbs (informal) ↔ verbo único (formal): put off/postpone, find out/ascertain, look into/investigate.
- Formal evita contracciones y preguntas directas; usa pasivas e indirectas.
Síntesis Día 338 — Emails y peticiones corteses
- Estructura: saludo → apertura → cuerpo → cierre → despedida.
- Peticiones graduadas: Could you…? < Could you possibly…? < I was wondering if… < I would be grateful if…
- Look forward to + -ing. Dear Sir/Madam → Yours faithfully; Dear + nombre → Yours sincerely.
Síntesis Día 339 — Hedging
- Atenúa con modales (may/might/could), adverbios (arguably, somewhat, perhaps), verbos tentativos (suggest, indicate, tend to, seem) e impersonales (it could be argued that).
- Sustituye absolutos: all → most, always → generally.
Síntesis Día 340 — Énfasis
- Do/does/did enfático; clefts (It was X who… / What I need is…); inversión negativa (Never have I… / Not only did he…).
- Adjetivos absolutos con absolutely/utterly, no very. Colocaciones: highly likely, deeply concerned, bitterly disappointed.
Síntesis Día 341 — Diplomacia
- Patrón: reconocer + suavizar + opinar + proponer.
- I'm afraid…, disclaimers (Don't take this the wrong way, but…), críticas como "mejorable" (room for improvement).
