📖 Clase (60 min)
Hoy construimos esa base; los próximos días la ampliaremos con a few, a little, some y any. Domina hoy much, many y a lot of y tendrás el 70% de las situaciones cubiertas.
Explicación detallada
1. Contables vs. incontables.
- an apple → three apples (una manzana → tres manzanas)
- a shop → many shops (una tienda → muchas tiendas)
- money (dinero) — Money is important.
- water (agua) — Water is cheap here.
- rice, milk, bread, sugar, coffee, information, advice, music
- How many apples do you want? (¿Cuántas manzanas quieres?)
- There aren't many shops in this village. (No hay muchas tiendas en este pueblo.)
- Are there many people in the store? (¿Hay mucha gente en la tienda?)
3. MUCH → con sustantivos incontables.
- How much money do you have? (¿Cuánto dinero tienes?)
- I don't have much time. (No tengo mucho tiempo.)
- Is there much milk in the fridge? (¿Hay mucha leche en la nevera?)
4. A LOT OF / LOTS OF → afirmativas, contable o incontable.
En frases afirmativas, lo natural es usar a lot of (o lots of, más informal). Sirve para los dos tipos:
- She has a lot of money. (Tiene mucho dinero.) — incontable
- There are a lot of shops here. (Hay muchas tiendas aquí.) — contable
- I bought lots of clothes. (Compré mucha ropa.)
Decir I have much money en afirmativa suena raro y forzado para un nativo. Lo correcto es I have a lot of money.
5. How much…? también pregunta el PRECIO.
- How much is this shirt? (¿Cuánto cuesta esta camisa?)
- How much are these shoes? (¿Cuánto cuestan estos zapatos?)
- How much does it cost? (¿Cuánto cuesta?)

Gramática a fondo
Tabla resumen de uso:
| Tipo de frase | Contable | Incontable |
|---|---|---|
| Pregunta | How many apples? / Are there many…? | How much money? / Is there much…? |
| Negativa | not many apples | not much money |
| Afirmativa | a lot of / lots of apples | a lot of / lots of money |
Estructura de la pregunta de precio:
How much + is + (singular) ? → How much is the bread?
How much + are + (plural) ? → How much are the apples?
How much + does/do + sujeto + cost? → How much does this jacket cost?
Caso especial: much en afirmativas formales o con too / so / very: There is too much sugar. (Hay demasiado azúcar.) / Thank you so much. (Muchas gracias.)
- a lot of en habla rápida suena pegado: "a-lo-tof".
Errores comunes del hispanohablante
